Element-ary History

I chose Aluminum as my element. I think it's so cool how many reactions this element can have. Hans Christian Oersted founded the element. Before hand, scientists were finding little bits of metal in Alum, and were trying to discover what it was, but Oersted was the first one to actually discover it.

Oersted discovered aluminum when he was testing on alum and found small bits of metal. Scientists before had seen the foreign pieces of metal, but Oersted was the first to go in depth study.

We find aluminum in many everyday things. Such as mail boxes, bike frames, ladders, furniture, pots, pans, and much more.

Aluminum is found as mostly an element. It is located in column 13, period 3 in the periodic table.

Holy Cross Problems

Holy Cross Problems

Everyday, when all of the kids at Holy Cross Lutheran go out to recess, they go straight to the big yellow swing. This swing causes a lot of chaos when it comes to taking turns and how many people are on, etc. This becomes a problem when too many people are on, or when they are on for too long.

It really stinks because other kids want to get on, but when it's taken over by the older kids, the younger ones don't get a chance on the swing. I know this bothers many kids at recess.

How can we fix this problem? A solution!!

My solution to this problem is we assign certain groups at recess, and these groups take turns on the swing. 5 people max. I want to make this as accommodating  as possible for those who don't get a turn on the swing. Those darn kids who don't like to share!!

I hope that putting people into groups will help make the swing more accommodating for the rest of the year.
